At that time, American primary school students' reading materials were mostly boring and rigid, which made children lose interest in reading. In 1954, an article in Life magazine pointed out this problem. Dr. Seuss was invited to create a children's book that could arouse children's interest in reading, using a limited number of simple words. He used only 236 common words to create this story, and the book became an immediate hit.
