Jack and the Beanstalk

Anthropologists have traced the story's roots back more than 5,000 years to proto-Indo-European culture, and it is categorized as a tale of "the boy who stole the giant's treasure". The earliest written version, titled The Story of Jack Spriggins and the Enchanted Bean, appeared in 1734 in the book Round About Our Coal - Fire.
