Alice in the White Rabbit

Bored by a riverbank, Alice spots a white rabbit in a waistcoat muttering, “Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” (to the Duchess, then later the Queen of Hearts). She chases him down a rabbit hole, plummeting into Wonderland — this is the story’s inciting incident.
